This time of year, I tend to get a bit conflicted.
I love to give Christmas gifts! And let’s face it, I love to get them too. And shop for them… and wrap them. But the older I get, the more aware I become of the lack in the world we live in.
What if, this year, we could give two-fold? A super sweet gift for someone you love that is also directly supporting another life and culture?
It’s the best of both worlds.
I’ve found 3 organizations that make fantastic apparel! They are PERFECT for gift-giving, as well as help support those in need, all in their own unique way. Check out their stories and shop their super sweet stuff!
The Giving Keys
Started by a mega babe with a huge heart (Caitlin Crosby), this organization not only propels interpersonal intimacy by encouraging us to share our stories with each other, but also employs those who are looking to transition out of homelessness in Los Angeles, CA (read their AMAZING stories here!! Ahh). They provide an opportunity for a fresh start in a positive environment crafting these beautiful goodies! I have a “LOVE” necklace that I wear nearly every day, and I have a huge crush on the chunkier, Rebel Necklaces.
How it works: Buy a rustic key engraved with a word meaningful to you – -> Rock it – -> Pass it on to someone who needs the encouragement – -> Share the inspiring story with The Giving Keys
Krochet Kids started out as a few high school buds who crocheted their own snow hats for frequent snowboarding adventures. As their adventures turned global, their perspectives broadened and helping those in developing countries became the new standard. Over the years, they’ve taught over 150 people in Uganda and Peru how to crochet and become self-sustainable by providing awesome gifts that give back! (I mean, that beanie, right??) Each gift is personally signed by the woman who crafted it for you.
How it works: Purchase rockin’ crocheted gift for your bro or sis – -> Provide work and vision for people desiring to make a change in their lives, families and communities
fashionABLE was founded by a husband and wife duo, whose focus in the beginning was vulnerable women and young girls in Ethiopia. The women asked for opportunity, not charity, and that is exactly what has been given to them. These incredible woven and leather goods (that leather is like butter!) are created with love and signify the sustainability being created in these communities in Africa.
How it works: Give someone you love a gorgoues fashionABLE gift –> Give the opportunity for women to choose LIFE instead of survival
I’m genuinely excited to start shopping this awesome stuff for
