This is the first of a series that I am pumped to share with you guys. If you didn’t get a chance to read my post about what Dang, girl! is, this is a short description to fill you in on why I’m so excited about it! And who better to start with than someone I have known longer than anyone?? My very own sister. I give you, Audrey Nicole Pate.
To understand Audrey, you have to know her heart. It’s very, very big, and always has been. She has a love for people that, as I have seen it, is unmatched in so many ways. This life of love takes her all over the world in search of those who lack, so that she can give whatever she has to meet their needs. India, Africa and Haiti are a few places that she has invested her heart and soul into by nurturing orphans, building housing for the homeless and feeding the hungry. I have seen her sell all of her belongings several times over to be able to help meet the needs of others. Audrey’s generosity doesn’t just apply to 3rd world situations, though. I’ve seen her hand over articles of clothing right off her back, without hesitation, just because someone complimented them. ( I try to be a generous person, but that would be T O U G H for me! I like my clothes!) “Things” have no meaning to her, only love and the many creative ways she comes up with to show it. This kind of love, though, can be hard on the lover. She is constantly overcoming the hurt of being taken for granted. This is where her strength lies, though, because in the moments where she could give up and relent the life of love, she continues on loving just the same. Giving, loving, healing, and continuing to love. I mean, Dang, girl!
Q&A Q&A Q&A!!
Who are you? Audrey; a people loving, adventure seeking, sister, daughter and friend who loves learning and exploring new places and people. Nashville raised and a Christ follower.
How do you want to be seen by others? I always want to be seen as a light in a dark place. To be seen as someone who has pure motives and doesn’t invest in relationships because of what they can do for me, but because all people are valued and worthy of being loved.
What is one thing you always do when you’re alone in the car? Sing, duh. But, I don’t have a radio, so I spend most of my driving time making a cappella “remixes”.
Is there something you do to make yourself feel beautiful? My steam room-sauna regimen! I use the ones at my YMCA, its like a mini spa day. I bring lotions, serums and hair treatments to soak in while I sweat out toxins. I feel so light and fresh after! Then, borrow my sisters clothes
What is one of your must-have-at-all-times products in your makeup bag? MAC Creme d’ Nude lipstick in their Cream Sheen line! Always.
One article of clothing from your childhood that you remember loving? My silver pleather jacket from the seventh grade, that matched the ones N’Sync had. Judge me.
What was the hardest thing you’ve ever been through? Were there any key people that helped get you through it? The scariest thing I’ve been through was when I felt God asking me to move to India for an undetermined amount of time. I had no idea what to expect, or what to do. There were SO many people who stepped up and helped me raise funds, prayed for and with me, and encouraged me in endless ways. Having that community of people was amongst many things, a huge confirmation that this is what I am supposed to be doing. I made it there just two months from the time the idea popped into my head. It was an incredibly difficult, and at times lonely journey but there is nothing in the world I would have traded it for.
Miley Cyrus or Taylor Swift? Currently musically, Taylor. But Miley will always have a special place in my heart <3
To get Audrey’s natural look I..:
1. Beach-waved her hair by wrapping around a curling wand, then sprayed it with Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. She loves the messy, textured look!
2. I strategically placed Mac Strobe Lotion highlighter (featured here) on her cheekbones, bridge of her noes, cupid’s bow and inner eyes.
3. I applied NARS Bali to her eyelids and lower lash line for a soft smokey eye, without being too intense. I also used Bali to fill in her eyebrows using an angle brush.
4. We contoured underneath the cheekbone with MAC Bronzing Powder. Sizzle!
5. To finish, on her lips I used a neutral lip liner all over the lip as a base, and MAC Cream Sheen Creme d’ Nude over top!
